Custom curtain making.
|
Our
in house workroom has, for the last thirty years, built a
reputation for our expertise and quality of workmanship.
Unlike the majority of curtain making workrooms, our
machinists only handle and make voile curtains. This is
essential for the type of work we are involved with.
We offer a professional, and
yet prompt, trade curtain making service to retailers,
interior designers and contract furnishers.

Types of headings and hems
|
Pencil
pleat heading - Various curtain tapes are offered. Imagine a
row of pencil's all stacked together and you get an idea of the
finished look, usually about 7.5cm (3") deep. See
below for more details.
|
Slot
heading - A simple tunnel effect for threading on to a wire
or rod, usually about, 3cm sewn with a small heading of
about 2cm. When gathered the heading creates a frill effect
above the slot. |
|
To
ensure that a voile curtain hangs properly, a weight is usually
required at the bottom.
We
offer two types of base hems, double and leadweight.
|
|
Double
hem - This is simply a turnover of material at the bottom of
a curtain, usually for drops up to about 300cm a 10cm double hem
is sufficient.
|
Lead
hem - A string, of 25gm
lead weight, neatly sewn along the very bottom of the curtain.

Rufflette pencil pleat tapes available
Below is a guide to the stand up space above the hook on each tape.
When ordering curtains to be made, we need to know the position of the tape. So for example if your curtain needs a stand up
of say 15mm above Tervoil tape you would put your hook in the top pocket and we would sew the tape down 8mm (7 + 8 = 15).
